Quiet….

FullSizeRender   “Nowhere can man find a quieter or more untroubled retreat than in his own soul.”  Marcus Aurelius

The final month of the year has all the makings for solitude and reflection. But rarely ever do we allow December to offer us the calm and peace it hopes to. Instead we start the engines because the race is on.  Midnight madness shopping.  Online sales. Grab a gift. Wrap a grab. Parties to go to. Cards to write. A dizzying time.

This simple post is sent with hopes that you’ll give yourself time to reflect on the year just past. What was learned, shared, forgiven, forgotten, started, hoped for? In the quiet, peace, and calm the answers are always there. Turn down the volume. Clear the static and clutter. Hush.

In the photo above my 19-year-old niece, now a college sophomore, scoops up quiet at the top of Mount Washington not long ago. I hope that she still recalls the balance and blessings she received on this day high up in the mountains. I wish for all, especially young adults, to take a few moments each day to sit still and receive. To refuel. To live with intention. To trust in the Universe. To just be.
